“Charoen Optic”, our first optical store was opened in Saraburi by our founder, Mr. Charoen Treeponchaisak. Ever since the launch and our mobile units started to visit communities and villages, we have been helping people see better with our easily accessible services, a clear proof of our commitment to improve consumers' quality of life. The continuous development of our people, their knowledge, and their skills has made Top Charoen stand out from the crowd. In the beginning, the opening ceremonies for our shops were blessed by Sian Pae Rong Si (Ngow Kim Koi), the famous Chinese Feng Shui expert of that time.​

Since inheriting the optical business from his father, Mr. Noppasak Treeponchaisak has modernized this optical business by adopting new technology for precise and accurate vision tests for individual customers. This has evolved from the computerized technology available at that time to the recent AxQ20, Visual Acuity Measurement technology comprising accurate 20 steps to provide personalized vision tests to enable individual customers to achieve optimal vision.​

A small family business became one of the country’s largest optical businesses, expanding to 100 stores nationwide, including the Northern and Northeastern regions.

Passionate about developing the business, Mr. Noppasak Treeponchaisak registered the trademark and renamed Charoen Optic as Top Charoen, which sounds friendlier, more modern, and easy to remember. Top Charoen is among the first to introduce to Thailand new technology and progressive eyeglass-making techniques from abroad. With many improvements, Top Charoen has led the modernization of Thailand’s optical market and cooperated with global partners to bring leading international eyewear brands, equipment, tools, and technology into the country.​

Top Charoen founded the Thai Optometry School, certified by the Ministry of Education, to educate and introduce new career opportunities for young generations while nurturing the development of professional opticians both in and outside of Bangkok.​

Top Charoen increased the number of stores within leading shopping centers in Bangkok and other provinces, such as Central, Robinson, Lotus’s, and Big C, to better serve a wider array of customers. Nowadays, Top Charoen exists in nearly every shopping center nationwide.

During this time, a new headquarters was established on Chaengwattana Road, along with the development project of The Thai Optometry School into a large Training Center. Through knowledge and innovation updates as well as international business trips, Top Charoen has contributed significantly to knowledge and skill enhancement for opticians by ophthalmologists and doctors of optometry.​

The first flagship store was opened at Siam Square. It offers the most comprehensive services and modern tools and equipment. More importantly, the shop is among the first in Thailand to use AI technology for eye testing and eyeglass making.​

Top Charoen acquired a high-quality lens manufacturing plant in Thailand, giving the company a strong production base and the ability to serve different needs. MEI, an advanced AI-supported tool, was imported and deployed to produce customized lens functions and shapes. The technology enables highly efficient, precise, and fast production of lenses, especially progressive lens that are comfortable and provide clarity of vision at any vision zone.

The company has transitioned into a public company with over 2,100 stores, providing the most extensive coverage in Thailand. Additionally, it has expanded its chain stores to countries in the Southeast Asia (SEA) region, including Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia.
